which seems odd but I confirmed with a few canteen collectors that 43 WAL made canteens can have this as it was a transitional period for markings

White Seamed Stockings (Nurse) Size 9 1/2 Book The shoulder area has smallVintage 1940s white back seamed stockings for nurse uniforms. They are a heavier weight than silk or nylon and are most likely a cotton or cotton blend. There are a few brown specks on the foot. There is a small repair on the heel. The foot measures 9 1 2" long and the stockings are 28 1 2" long. These were picked up in Germany, but work great for US or German impressions.
